Book Licking

18 November, 2009 (19:48) | Main | By: Patrick

Robin was talking about book licking. Honestly, I am trying it, and this book tastes surprisingly like berries and honey.

I still think she’s a little bit out there on this one though. Seriously, of the rest of my TBR pile, I am not sure I want to know how they taste. I think I might try the more traditional method of just reading the words.

Something about a ‘shed scene’ in Hunt Her Down…

Decompressing

18 November, 2009 (07:33) | Main | By: Patrick

I just finished up my 6 month project in Tampa and now I am decompressing.

I thought I had already decompressed the last few weeks in Tampa, but I am finding that I didn’t. This week is going well. I can tell I am decompressing, because the things I do to veg (watch TV) are starting to annoy me. I don’t want to sit in front of the TV all night. Heck, I fell asleep watching Castle on Monday. Thankfully it was on the DVR.

It’s hard to explain why I need to decompress, but I find it’s in my nature. I have been reading Kris Rusch’s Freelancer’s Guide and it has contained some amazing things. I think the most recent article on Burnout is what I am dealing with. Never really thought to put a name to all these things.

See, I look at my writing log and realize I have not written a word of fiction in months. Sad. Truly sad.

I thought as soon as the Tampa project ended, I would start writing. And I will, just as soon as I finish decompressing. And I know I am. I have turned off the TV and picked up some books to read. I have a huge TBR pile right now and read half a book last night.

New words are coming. At least I hope. The holiday season has traditionally been a non-productive time for me. But I don’t see it this year. I think I’m good. I have an imaginary deadline.

Anyway, off to Geek Training this morning. I love Geek Training. I feel sorry for anyone who has to teach me, though. I’m quite obnoxious as a student.

Soccer season is over, but of course we’re out doing something.

Can you guess?
